Welcome To Insider’s Peek
Hey Conquerors! It’s your boy, Matthew [E2 – President], bringing you this new edition of Insider’s Peek. Every week, the Executive Committee (E8) will start releasing short blog posts (like “this”) to keep you informed about upcoming events, programs, and changes in our community.
We’ve been doing this on our Facebook Group Page since the last Pre-Season, but I’ve felt that our post format don’t mix well with our long blocks of text dangling on your Facebook feed which is why we’ve created our own “News” page.
Our goal with Insider’s Peek is to ensure that every member is aware of our plans, the reason behind our decisions, and to gather feedback from our community members as early as possible through a series of newsletter blog posts.
We believe that by gathering insights in small iterations, we ensure that we can make timely adjustments on our plans so we can exceed our community’s expectations. We want to make that ₱20.00 pesos membership application fee of yours worth it.
This is part of a doctrine (or a guiding principle) the E8 is using to lead our organization towards success. We call it the “Agile Leadership Principles”. It simply defines how we “get our jobs done” as club officers, but that’s another story for a new blog post.
The key takeaway here is that we want to consistently communicate our club offerrings every few weeks while respecting your commitments—whether they be academic, personal, or professional. While we do want to win major tournaments and events, we don’t want our members to feel “chess improvement” as a chore but rather to keep your mental fitness in shape.
If you often find yourself forgetting things, it’s a clear indication that you should start incorporating brain exercises into your routine. Engaging in chess and other strategy games is an excellent way to keep your mind sharp.
We’ll be posting more announcements like this on our News page about our upcoming events soon, so be sure to follow our Facebook page/join our “Announcements” Group Chat when they come out for all the details. See you on the board and good luck with your Mid-Season climb!
