Welcome to Conquerors Bootcamp (S1: W1)

We’re excited to announce our new recurring event, Conquerors Bootcamp! This face-to-face group coaching session is designed to fast-track your chess improvement goals while making new friends along the way.

Conquerors Bootcamp is a training program that combines expert coaching with active participation. With a dedicated team coach, you’ll engage in focused training that enhances your skills without compromising your ability to visualize on the board. This bootcamp is implemented alongside our Online Training Portal, ensuring a seamless learning experience.

  • Structured Learning: Every two weeks, members will complete hundreds of print-out puzzles, engage in peer analysis, and participate in chess theory lessons.
  • On-the-Board Practice: Get hands-on experience with exclusive practical training sessions that reinforce your skills and strategies.
  • Community Support: Connect with fellow members and coaches who will motivate you and provide valuable insights throughout your journey.

Every elite chess club has a specific area of focus or specialty in their training approach. For instance, UAAP Chess Teams like the FEU Chess Tamaraws excel in fortresses and counterattacking play, while Adamson University is renowned for their dynamic and aggressive style. De La Salle, on the other hand, surprises opponents with innovative opening novelties.

Our curriculum is centered around “improvisation” or “creative play”.

This approach emphasizes taking opponents into a “deep dark forest” during the middle game, and then pouncing on them using pure techniques and imbalances. The primary goal of our training is to draw opponents out of their comfort zones without relying heavily on memorizing extensive opening lines, in a short period of time.

This strategy will come in handy during Conquerors Tourney and Open Tournaments, where our team often faces the challenge of being “unprepared.” Since our player data is shared with the opposing team for their initial preparations, our “improvised playstyle” will give us a chance to adapt and surprise our opponents during the match.

Welcome to Week 1 of our training plan, where we focus on Athletic Development. The real battle on the chessboard starts right before you setup the pieces, so it’s important to have the right nutrition and training to prepare for your next match.

frequently asked questions

I have a class schedule conflict during our training.

If you have a class schedule conflict during our training sessions, we recommend prioritizing your classes first. You can still participate in future training sessions, so don’t worry about missing out. If your classes are online and coincide with our training times, a practical solution is to attend the training with your camera off. This way, you can still benefit from the session while fulfilling your academic commitments. We encourage flexibility and understanding as you balance both your studies and your passion for chess!

Where will my ₱50.00 pesos coaching fee go?

Your ₱50.00 coaching fee will go directly towards hiring a dedicated chess coach for our upcoming face-to-face training sessions. This coach will provide valuable chess theory lessons aimed at accelerating your development and improving your skills on the board. Your contribution helps ensure that you receive high-quality instruction and support as you work towards your chess goals.

Where is the training venue?

The training venue will be announced shortly, but it will probably be on a Library or Classroom since our on-the-board engagement will be minimal for this week's training. But expect a permanent in-campus training grounds on your branch next year!

What should I bring during the training?

You should bring a pair of socks (for our Training Start-Up Routine), a yellow paper, a pen, a chess board, Chess.com Clock App/Digital Chess Clock, Water, Snacks and ₱50.00 pesos for the coaching fee.
